The little red boat was creating a problem for me in the previous version so I posted my picture on The Complete Artist site and got some really good feedback. Following Ann Turner's advice I billowed the sail and added some highlights. I also adjusted the angle of the reflection to suggest that the boat was moving in turbulent water.

Now I think I will enter it into my first competition.
The magazine Australian Artist runs a monthly competition and this month is Challenge No.47 Seascapes, rivers and lakes. It closes on the 13th of January 2012. There is prize money involved but, in all honesty, I just want the experience of entering something somewhere. You never know, I might actually get a comment!
